Mentored by FRC Group
Maria is a third year student studying Criminology at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. Maria has a great interest in the homelessness sector, in particular about how to keep individuals from being at risk of homelessness. This interest has allowed Maria to be working with FRC Group, in Liverpool, England. FRC Group works in the housing and employment sector doing a variety of things. Collecting furniture and recycling it, to providing training programs to the long term unemployed it just a glimpse of what FRC Group does to improving lives and communities. Maria will be working with the Business Development Manager to work on the 'Furnishing Homes Furnishing Lives' campaign to raise awareness about furniture poverty. Along with this, Maria will be researching the process of procurement to find out what advantages social enterprises have when seeking out work from the housing sector in the UK.
Research Question
Has the implementation of the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 affected housing organizations in the UK in terms of determining and promoting social value, and does this benefit relevant social enterprises who seek to win work from this sector?
