About Trevor

Hi, my name is Trevor Bessette. I am 22 years old and I live in St. John's, Newfoundland. I am an entrepreneur and am currently studying Business at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Last year I started a sustainable clothing brand called Seaside Apparel NL to provide Newfoundlanders with an alternative to fast fashion and to spread a message of sustainable consumption. All of our products are ethically manufactured in Haiti and Guatemala and are made from recycled plastic bottles and salvaged cotton scraps. I believe that one of the major problems with fast fashion is that big companies don’t take responsibility for the textiles they produce and sell. I want to change that. I envision a world in which clothing companies are required to have mechanisms in place to enable consumers to send back their end of life textiles to be upcycled or recycled.

About Seaside Reclaimed

Seaside Reclaimed is a textile management project that will prevent used Seaside Apparel (as well as other textiles) from entering landfills. Used/end of life Seaside Apparel products will be recuperated and upcycled into new local products such as tote bags, backpacks & other accessories to be purchased by Seaside Apparel customers. The upcycling will be done locally and will provide employment opportunities for At-Risk-Youth.
